Kasuga Toratsuna (Kosaka Danjo)
- Born 1527 ― Died June 14, 1578
- Despite being born into Isawa's affluent peasantry, Toratsuna leapt up through the ranks after serving as a messenger close to Shingen. He was charged with protecting Kaizu Castle, which safeguarded the frontline Kawanakajima area in northern Shinano threatened by Uesugi forces. Shingen supplied him with a collection of teachings on discipline and philosophy that is thought to be the foundation of the Koyo Gunkan, a historically valuable record of Takeda clan military matters. In his final years, he worked to forge an alliance between Uesugi Kagekatsu and Takeda Katsuyori, but he fell to illness during negotiations.
